Agathinai – the word derived from Agam meaning inner or within and Thinai being a descriptive term used by tamil poets to establish the background characteristics of sangam poems that include a definite time, place, season and landscape.

In a like manner we create the backdrop for the user of our designs and products wherein they(the products) set the stage for the protagonist(the user) to lead an enhanced experience, a poetic life, while Agathinai provides a subtle yet profound role as a background character.

We hope to create a beneficial and amicable relationship with every individual we work with, from the minds and hands that conceive a product to the hands that use it for many generations to come.

A humble beginning towards an ethical, environmentally sensitive, and handcrafted approach to design and manufacturing. The use of only reclaimed wood from older buildings to craft furniture, natural oils to finish them, and incorporating traditional crafts such as rattan, brass work, etc. for embellishment. The studio has expanded its scope from wood as the only center-stay for furniture making to Natural fiber composite boards and metal+stone-based products.
